Contemporary Kitchen Design - Nuenza

Our recent contemporary kitchen design project. When a young married couple purchased their Montreal home from the grand-parents, kitchen design advice was sought after at Cuisines Nuenza.

A certain aesthetic was to be kept, as the house had many classic elements, however the couple themselves had a bit of a contemporary flare to them. The design was thus decided upon using a rather transitional feel, respecting both the architecture and the client’s personal stylistic needs.

This was achieved by working with the couple using our favorite tool: Houzz. This allows us to keep in constant communication with the people we are design for, which can be difficult considering the design process is one that is constantly evolving. Idea books can be created and shared between client and designer, keeping everyone up to date with the design expectations and evolution of thought. It greatly helps us to stay eye-to-eye with our clients.

Contemporary Kitchen Design Project

Within this kitchen, the challenge was to give a maximum of storage and cooking tools within a rather restricted area. This family of Italian origin enjoys cooking a great deal. Therefore we gave them everything they needed in order to be able to be the masters of their kitchen. A pot filler was installed over the range and a larger bank of drawers was placed alongside it in order to give easy access to all the cooking utensils, pots and pans. In terms of the design, we achieved the rather classic look with the use of white shaker doors with a dark grey island. We dressed it up with moldings, while keeping all lines clean and simple. Arabesque tiles were used as the backsplash, and a Supreme White counter top allowed for a large cooking surface. The upper cabinets were topped off with small glass cabinets in order to display some wine glasses and other kitchenware.

All in All, the meeting of the older rustic home with a contemporary owner made for a great transitional design. This helped not only in the art of cooking, but turned the heart of the home into a space that was perfectly fit for this couple’s lifestyle.
